Sustainability

The installation and ongoing testing and maintenance of fire protection systems can have a significant environmental impact, particularly with respect to water usage. There is significant opportunity to reduce the amount of water they use over their life, to substantially lessen the extent of materials and other environmental impacts required for their installation and ownership, and to lessen the limitations that fire services can sometimes place on achieving broader sustainability solutions and outcomes.

Walker Fire Protection was one of the first in the fire industry to recognise the opportunity to improve the sustainability of fire protection systems and offers a wide range of ‘green fire’ services including:

  • Review and modification of testing criteria and pump and sprinkler system configurations to reduce the amount of water wasted for system testing.
  • Alternative design solutions that maximise system adaptability and or use technologies like flexible sprinkler droppers to minimise the extent of changes needed to meet requirements of future layout changes or rationalise systems components e.g. combining the pipework elements of the fire sprinkler and hydrant systems.
Safety System

Safety is very important to us!

Work Health and Safety is a major focus and Walker Fire Protection’s best practice integrated safety management system is independently certified to Australian Standard AS/NZS 4801:2001 and the stringent SafetyMAP Advanced Level. This combined with a strong safety culture assures safe working practices and the health and safety of our personnel, customer’s staff and building occupants. Continuous improvement of this system continues to deliver safer workplaces and buildings.
